Row, row, row your boat

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,

Life is but a dream.

EXTRA VERSIONS:
Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
If you see an alligator,
 Don't forget to SCREAM.

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Throw your teacher overboard
And listen to her scream

ACTIVITY:
With toddlers or older children: Sit on the floor facing your child, hold their
hands and rock backward and forward. Sing song, in time to "rowing" motion.
With babies: hold baby and sway gently to music
EXTENSION:
1. As seen in the bright yellow book cover above you can purchase this simple board book, which is sold in many languages, to read to children. It is a wonderful dual language book: meaning it has language and one other language in the book.
2. As seen in photo below, two children can do the actions together once they know the song.
Sofia and Lila play row your boat

DEVELOPS:
Sense of rhythm and timing as they coordinate singing and moving together.
Cooperation as two people work together
Upper body strength
Core strength
Stimulates vestibular system, the balance centre in the inner ear.
Sense of fun.

  1. Love all these versions of row your boat and the photo of the 2 children trying to play the game together is precious. Many Thanks to you.
